Walden Capital is pleased to announce upcoming changes to how we govern our investment portfolios and your investment solutions.
Current arrangements
Presently, your investment portfolio is designed and implemented from the work conducted by the Walden Capital Investment Committee. As an advisory firm, we then ask your permission to apply any changes through a rebalance, a process you will be familiar with. The drawback of this process is that it is more difficult for us to respond quickly if changes need to be made on a timely basis.
Why change?
We believe there is need for greater agility to adapt your portfolio to changing market and economic conditions now, whilst remaining highly disciplined around allocating risk between portfolios.
Future arrangements
We are looking to evolve our investment proposition further by appointing a third-party investment management consultant. Whilst the high-level portfolio objectives will be the same, this allows us to leverage their greater scope and expertise around fund selection, as well as accessing institutional share classes which will bring the cost of the portfolios down.
Furthermore, when changes are required, they can be made for all clients at the same time which will keep things up to date and ensure consistency for everyone. It is important to stress that our investment committee will continue to oversee the managed portfolios and meet regularly with the external consultant, as part of our ongoing governance around the solutions we offer to our clients.
What might change?
In essence, very little.
We are doing this to improve our client experience and improve efficiency that will ensure that our investment solutions remain at the cutting edge of wealth management. By utilising the discretionary permissions of the external consultant, we can streamline the implementation of changes whilst still maintaining total control over the constituents of our portfolios. Additionally, we have been able to do this at similar or lower cost for the vast majority of our clients.
Next steps
We will contact all of our clients individually to explain in greater detail and seek permission to make this change.
