Financial Planning is pretty serious stuff most of the time, but occasionally at Walden Capital we like to let down our hair a little and have some fun.
We are very lucky in Saffron Walden to have the ‘8 Day Weekend’ – a (just over a) week-long celebration for and of the local area that happens every 3 years, organised by the Round Table, and raising money for good causes. This year the Saffron Walden Carnival raised around £100,000 for charities, and Walden Capital were pleased to be there, taking a couple of tables at the ‘Corporate Night’ where we were fed, watered and entertained in a big tent in the middle of the common, together with a few very welcome clients.
Our local MP, Kemi Badenoch gave a speech, celebrating the town, and our achievements, and then Martin Bayfield, ex England international rugby player entertained us with his excellent talk on his days of getting into a ruck, on, and sometimes off the field.
Finally, ‘Mad Hen’ – described as the ‘most consistently brilliant corporate party band in Europe’ rounded the night out, with tunes new, and not quite so new, where we were able to get our groove on.
The next day it was back to work, perhaps a little jaded, and looking forward to next time.
